I can only say that as expensive as it will be now it will be more expensive the longer you wait.
Figure as a guess:
Plumber and assistant 3 -4 hours rip out wall and fix pipes
Plumber contracts drywall person 2 - 4 hours patch wall and
press mud up - sand wall.
Paint extra
Price each contractor by your local prices and figure if you are very remote more travel time and if there is excessive pipe or wall damage more time. Do not do this on weekends and it may be best to get a few estimates.
$40 - 60 per hour per person would be more then fair - depends on your city location. Plus parts.
Sort of. You have to finx the leak, and repair the wall you have to beat down to get to the leak.
You need to get ahold of a plumber and your insurance company to find out if they cover that kind of thing and who they’ll cover.
Also, DON’T try to do it yourself. Depending on how long this leak has been around you may at this point have Black Mold (it looks black obivously, and is easy to identify but can be seriously harmful and in some cases deadly on a long-term basis) which you can spread by pulling up carpet etc. because it will blow the spores around.
Have about $600.00 ready, and hope there is no mold.
a competent handyman (get references) should be able to do this,
decide if back of wall is easier than in the bathroom.
make sure they open hole from stud to stud as you need studs to anchor repair and cross pieces to anchor all four sides.
2×4 steel stud can be slipped in more easily for cross pieces
depends where you are. it needs to open up the pipe fittings & fixing the leaks. cost involves (1) labor cost & (2) new pipe fittings. fixing time will depend on site conditions.
Without knowing what I may run into I wouldn’t give you a precise figure, a ballpark figure of $600.00 with an outside of $1000.00 might be right.
