I’m looking to do a complete renovation including redoing the electrical, plumbing, and moving around walls. I want to do all of the work myself with help from a few friends and am trying to figure out if there are any rules regarding what I can and cannot do. Thanks

I am about to order a new granite countertop, yet they will not remove the existing counter (nor the plumbing or sink removal). This is a 10yr laminate that the previous owners tiled over…
What is going to be the easiest (and if possible least messy) way to remove the tile to then remove the laminate top (of course we will have to undo the screws holding it to the cabinets first)?
Appreciate if you have done this yourself and any tips to help on this project. Thanks!

I see all these sites online saying to budget no less than 12K even if you do it all yourself…. So if I pay 1K for the shower and another 500 for the toilet and 500 for the sink — that is only 2K! Where are people spending a minimum of another 10K? Even if I hire out the plumbing for about 2K, I am still only estimating 4K. Someone help me fill in the blanks?
More Details: I am adding a new bathroom to an existing huge laundry room. The space for the bathroom part is 8×12 ft. There is already basic plumbing in the area because of the washing machine plumbing and drain stuff in the room already. House is one of the old type with a crawl space underneath which makes adding on to the plumbing a bit easier I hope. Also have basic electrical and a father in law who is an electrical engineer so that part will be cheap. We want the most basic of a bathrooms as we will only be in this house 2 and a half years longer. We just need another so we aren’t always fighting for the bathroom in the morning! Thanks!
