The only comment I would make is to have a professional install it. They are not like installing a tank style model. I did not switch to a tank-less mainly because of the cost of installation. But I did install a 90% tank model. But I have a gas water heater.

My Wife purchased a BOSCH tankless and it is awesome. We’ve got a whirlpool bath that we can fill all the way without pause with steamy hot water while someone else gets a shower in the other BR. Have the thing installed by someone professional though. The things are pretty heavy and you’ve got to tie it in to the waterline and mount it to the wall. All the while you are holding the damn thing in the air, trying to answer questions from your kids, trying to reach the wrench etc. also, it’s quite delicate inside so you can’t just slap it around like you would a hot water heater. The gas bill is just the same if not a little lower than before.

I just installed a Large tankless Gas water heater. I bought the outdoor model as I live in the south where freezing is not a big problem and do not have a basement. The outdoor type saves the venting needed for the gas model . They are not that difficult to install if you follow the instructions and are handy at that sort of thing. We use a lot more hot water with it just because we can do so without running out, hence longer showers and deeper hotter baths, so I can’t compare the cost savings but it is much more luxurious. I love it and would do the same again. One nice thing about it is that I will get a $300. rebate on my U.S. Income tax for installing it because of the energy savings potential of any energy star designated product.

Your skills aside, first make sure you have the capacity in your home’s power system (most electric on-demands, require at least an 100 amp dedicated circuit)

And if the price of Propane moderates some, I’d install a Rynai(sp?), in a second
