Yes, cost is much better and you probably need that with a renovation project. Just make sure it fits your needs and is compatible with codes.

Certainly. The older models tend to work better because they use more water. These new water-saving potties should be sold with matching plungers. Go for it.

I get them for free!
Amazing what some people throw away.
They may need an overhaul sometimes
but it’s a lot cheaper than buying a new one.
It’s a simple thing to rebuild.
Make sure you have a good take to bowl seal.
It’s much easier to replace prior to installation.

I cant really say yes because the part of the toilet you don’t see sometimes gets rough because the manufacturer used little or no glaze. When this happens everything gets caught up on the rough surface causing you to flush twice. Toilets today can be purchased fairly reasonable don’t inherit some one elses problem.

Home Depot has a “renaissance” elongated toilet complete with everything for only 99 bucks.You can’t beat new everything for only 99 bucks.
