We are moving to Ontario, in the Owen Sound area (within an hours radius from there) and are trying to decide whether to build or buy and then renovate. What would cost more…to build outright (including cost of land) or to buy and then do quite a few renovations…ie bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry room???? We want to do either out in the country side.

My main bath has some major problems - the floor is “soft” the toilet and shower unit are approx 35 years old and in bad shape. We are looking to renovate it. What are some things we can do ourself that will save money - Of course I know I will need a plumber to install the new fixtures. Please help

A few weeks later I received a call from a cabinet maker, who built the custom cabinets saying he has not been paid for the cabinets that the contractor ordered. They want to come after me for payment even though I had no contract or contact with them only with the contractor. Can they place a lein on my property? Don’t they have to go after the contractor who ordered the cabinets?

My girlfriend and I are looking to purchase a home and we found a nice house in a great location; however, the bathroom is TINY and it is something I would want to renovate and expand prior to moving in. How would should a expect to spend to make simple, yet stylish renovations to the bathroom?
I know this is a very vague question being that there are a ton of factors. I am just looking to get an idea of how much of an investment it would require on top of the down payment.
Thanks!

If you have ever used this as part of a bathroom renovation, please let me know how it worked out. I heard this is a cheaper alternative than getting a glass enclosure.

i gave him a quote at $500 to take out tub and put new one in but the old tub was a big cast iron tub that was a pain to get out,i had to take out a wall at end of tub ,then when the tub was out i noticed a probly with the 3 inch copper vent pipe had holes all through itso i fixed that all the way from the roof to the bottom floor with plumber flashing on roof the whole nine yards, then they wanted one of those modern day fixtures for the tap set in the tub so i had to do a bunch of plumbing to set it up for the new set of taps,i also installed 2 shutoffs under the tub, also had to rip out all old copper plumbing and replace with new abs pipe ,installed 3 sideboard tub inserts to go around the walls, framed a wall to close in the tub on the bottom cuz it had no sides then framed the back wall for the panel to go on and drywalled it all.primed and painted then caulked all around tub to finished.
it took me 4 more days to finish the extras what do i charge? they bought all materials.
no contracts signed and the $500 was just for the tub .i figure i should charge maybe another $500 - $700 they still would get a good deal either way it ended up being a nice job

The business does renovations on homes - kitchen/bathroom updates, adding dormers, etc. But some people aren’t able to afford the full price of the renovation up front. How can I find a financing company that would be willing to partner with our business to get loans for the customers?
