Hasn’t everybody told you that you can do anything you want in life? Since pre school i have been told that. Now that I’m about to graduate high school.. “Oh… yes you can do anything.. you can be a lawyer or a doctor or an architect” WELL. what if i don’t want a career? People look down on you. If you say you don’t want to apply to college your adviser will look at you like your crazy. Careers are a 20th century invention. We dont need them.
I want to live life. Just live i dont want to worry about doing taxes or counting money or being fulfilled with pointless everyday things. Dont you feel like your just not made to do something, and when you do it you feel out of place?
I want to travel the world on my bicycle, and now that i am growing up i let myself get more influenced by people and society and taken away from it. I am not destitute, i don’t need college. I read Thoreau’s Walden and understood it better than most people. I read Socrates’ literature. I idealize Gandhi. I feel more connected to R.W Emerson more than any other writer. I know how to write, I can build. I know construction, i know how to make furniture. I know everything about electricity and plumbing. I am good with photography. I can draw. So before you start telling me that i am throwing my future away, just think about what i really want.
This is sort of a question, more really just a discussion about dream. But ask yourself, are you doing what makes you happy and what you’ve always dreamt of? or are you struggling to put food on your family table.
Education isi’nt everything. I don’t want to run away from home. My parents give me more room than i need, sometimes i wish they even restricted it & cared more. You don’t. need. fucking. college. to SUCCEED in life. Why cant people understand that.
