Is there a Canadian organization besides Easter Seals, that helps fund disability modifications to a home in Ontario Canada? My son requires massive intervention in all areas, is on a 22 year wait list for a group home, and is highly active and destructive. He takes meds for obsessive/compulsive disorder, but this doesn’t really slow him down. Last week he smahed a toilet, through a fridge into the basement, and tore a hole through a wall. The costs are astronomical, we’ve been told the province will care for him, but we have to sign away all parental rights in order to get him help…this is crazy, and we prefer to keep him in the home, where people with a vested interest in him can care for him.
It’s easier to place him into care, than to get in-house treatment, and help. We need a full bathroom renovation due to flooding(he turned the water on and damaged the floors and walls, my insurer says he will cancel my insurance if I file a claim, and without insurance, no mortgages.

I am looking for some good book that would describe basic bathroom renovation DIY - For example removing a toilet, removing a tub, installing a new vanity etc. I’ve looked and most of the bathroom books are “decorative” not actual construction!

I want to move the toilet 2ft to the left which will make more room for a larger, newer sink vanity. My qu is can you move a toilet that far from its current position or will plumbing interfer? My main bath has some major problems - the floor is “soft” the toilet and shower unit are approx 35 years old and in bad shape. We are looking to renovate it. What are some things we can do ourself that will save money - Of course I know I will need a plumber to install the new fixtures. Please help

The bathroom is very small maybe 8×10 at BEST.

It needs to be completly gutted.

Only half the bathroom will be tiled (floor and half the shower area)

I am supplying the fixtures, toilet, new tub, and tile.

The contractor supplies the rest.

Approx what should I expect to pay? What have you paid in the past?
